Take a virtual holiday with us

Here at EyeEm, we have a team of full-time curators working to find the best images for client request. We are usually asked to look for photos with a certain visual language or that fit to a specific theme. And since we’re sourcing the photos from EyeEm Market, where different photographers like you share their work, the challenge is to unify the work of photographers with different styles into a coherent whole.

Who hasn’t thought about visiting some faraway island? This collection is all about popular escape phantasy – and the many forms it can take. Of course, all islands of the world are united by being cut off from the land, and by the water that surrounds them. But they nevertheless look very differently: Some may feature palm trees, others rocky cliffs – or, as you will see, some even have forbiddingly cold temperatures.

For this collection, I started out with an wider view of the island in its context, and then picked out more photos that give you the impression of gradually zooming in, revealing more details. The result is a quick journey that feels seamless even though its images stem from different locations.
