When her best friend got into art school in LA last year, Miriam jumped at the chance to see America, a country which she only knew from the movies. Hailing from Uppsala, Sweden, the sunny landscapes of Southern California provided a dramatic difference to the overcast skies of her hometown.

This dichotomy is reflected in her dreamy, washed out images, which reveal the bustling streets of Los Angeles, the palm tries and blue skies of the Hollywood hills, and the surfing culture unique to this part of the world. She documented her whole trip in her signature style – ethereal, slightly moody and always clean.

“I really like when photos follow a theme, and often when a photo doesn’t feel right, it’s because I’ve not put effort into the filter. There’s something about nature though; it’s a great motivator, and I love to be out in different environments. The photos I take have this love and gratitude because that’s the way I feel when I take them!”
