A Recap of the EyeEm Seattle Meetup

On Sunday, 23th of September, the first ever EyeEm Seattle Meetup took place. The group explored the old part of Ballard on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

On sunny Seattle Sunday, we started at the Ballard Library worked our way to the weekly Sunday Market on Old Ballard Avenue. We explored the bustling and lively vendor stalls, selling fruit, vegetables, bread and all kinds of delicious goods. Street musicians played and the smell of wood-fired pizza filled the air. Joining on this day was local Seattle film maker Eric Becker, who was capturing footage for a film he’s making about mobile photography. Here we were with our small iPhones, followed by a very large film camera on a steady cam. We were a very funny sight.
Light and lively subjects can be found in this old part of Ballard, a distinct neighborhood in Seattle and once its own city until being annex to Seattle in 1907. Old turn-of-the century buildings, hip new restaurants and pubs, and lots of people walking about mark Sundays in Ballard. September in Seattle has been lovely, warm, and sunny–and we certainly found this on our photo walk. We took photos through the wonderful light and scenery of leaves beginning to turn and few already fallen on the ground.
We ended our walk at King’s Hardware, a local bar, with good cheer, lively conversation, and new friendships made and others renewed.
