Okay - you got me! I really like sheep in my pictures.. There are more sheep than residents on the Faeroes ("the islands of sheep“) like in Scotland. But did you know that the people on the Faroe Islands were a bit tired of waiting for Google Street View so they launched Sheep View? This waterfall (called Bøsdalafossur) flows from the largest lake on the Faroe Islands Sørvágsvatn into the North Atlantic Ocean. It is a surreal place on the edge between the calm lake and the rough sea. Just standing there in the cold fresh wind, exposed to the white sea spray and listening to the sound of the waves - is there anything better? Back home from the Faroe Islands and so impressed! This country is just breathtaking - waterfalls, snow covered mountains and the ocean all around! Sørvágsvatn / Leitisvatn is the largest lake on the Faroe Islands. It is such a surreal place - the lake above the rough ocean. The day was very windy (like the most days on the Faroe Islands) and so it was a bit tricky to walk and taking pictures close to the cliff. View of the famous waterfall of Gásadalur. This town sounds like a place in Lord Of The Rings (isn't it?) and was one of the most isolated places in the beginning of the 21st century. The only option to visit this beautiful small village was to take a helicopter or to go by feet. Today there is a tunnel - so you can easily reach this place and enjoy this fantastic view. The legend of Risin og Kellingin - The Giant and the Witch who were sent to the Faroe Islands to bring them back to Iceland. These two sea stacks are close to the second-largest of the Faroe Islands Eysturoy - only a few meters from the cliff. Heavy winter storms will may destroy Kellingin in the next few decades - that’s a forecast from Faroese geologists. Where the ocean meets the cliffs and mountains - these are the places I love the most! Gjógv is a small village located on the north of the island of Eysturoy. The natural harbour in the gorge is a wonderful spot - the port has already been used by the Vikings. High waves do not make it easy for the boats I think.
