Temporary post: Five years living in the country of Georgia was the unforgettable part of my life. A country with lots of untold stories; A sweet nostalgia. Two years ago I started my photography here; since then I could discover this land more than before, I saw the hidden beauties in this culture among my own eyes! Each corner of this city and country made an immortal memory deep in my soul. Now at the age of 33, I'm leaving this country to move to the Netherlands, once again for studying, this time photography; to improve what I inherited from Georgia. The painful moments...But someday I'll come back again to divulge more secrets from such amazing warriors to the world in a better and correct way! You're deep in my heart, Georgia! "MediArt" documentary photo series. This family’s harrowing story began 17 years ago when their first child was diagnosed with Cystic Fibroma at the young age of 2. In order to afford her medical treatment, they sold their home; however, the child died anyway, leaving them grieving and homeless. Following that devastating catastrophe, they spent a period of time living alone in the forest in flimsy cardboard constructions built out of whatever they could find. After awhile, the river near their makeshift home flooded, destroying what little sense of shelter they had managed to create but the family was assisted by some local people who provided them with a single room in a nearby wood factory. Recently, a documentary TV report that aired across the country brought attention to the family’s strife, and people from all over the country have come to their aid, providing them with food and supplies. This photo series, tries to highlight the family’s lifestyle and more important the influence of media in their life; how a TV report could change the life and lifestyle of a family. "Dasha" documentary photo series. As a Spiritual Christian religious group that originated in Russia, the Doukhobors are unique in their practices of pacifism and rejection of modern materialism. This ideology led them to rebuff many Orthodox Church rituals in Russia, for which they were exiled in the 1840s in Gorelovka, a tiny village in the south part of Georgia. With the fall of communism, most of them found it advantageous to return to Russia and just a small group remains in this village. Doukhobors’ share a religious space, which they use for their rituals. As the Gorelovka Doukhobor community dwindles, only about 40 families remain, and of those, only about 10 persons continue to regularly attend ceremonies at their shrine. One of these members is particularly important. Acknowledged by their community as their last hope, Dasha is the only young member of their community to continue carrying on their traditions. Dasha represents the Gorelovka Doukhobor community’s last hope because she is young enough to continue their traditions, pass them on to future generations, and share them with historians and documentarians. Dasha is a Russian name and it means “God’s gift”.
