A Hermit’s new home. We found this Hermit crab in Pamoctan island near Camiguin Norte. Hermit crabs have soft, exposed abdomens, which makes them vulnerable to predators. To protect themselves, they search for abandoned shells. When they find one that fits, they tuck themselves inside and carry it with them wherever they go. In this case a Hermit found a new home, not in a shell but in a plastic cap. Pamoctan, is an inhabited island part of Babuyan group of islands which are far off main Luzon island. But plastic trash brought by sea waters can reach even this remote island.

Road access, farm to market roads are still big problems in the Philippines, especially in the remote areas. This left local with no choice but to walk several miles and carry their products from the mountains to town. The Photojournalist - 2017 EyeEm Awards

Cat spaying. Spaying or neutering cats and dogs help improve their health. It reduce unruly behavior such as aggression and roaming when in heat. It also save the cost of pet care and being unable to reproduce spay (for female) and neuter (for male) reduce the number of stray cats and dogs. The Photojournalist - 2017 EyeEm Awards

Local farmers in Atok, Benguet harvest their potatoes after two and a half months of planting them. Land conversion of mountains into vegtable plantation is now a problem in the Cordillera region. It caused soil erosion, degredation of soil minerals and destruction of wildlife habitat.
“Consider your mind being like the platform of a train station where different trains of thought pull through the station in each moment, heading to various destinations; childhood memories, creative ideas, revenge fantasies, cravings for chocolate, vacation plans. The untrained mind gets on every single train that pulls through the station, only later realizing what the destination is.” – Anushka Fernandopulle Train

One of the classrooms in a remote school in Maslog, Eastern Samar. Five years ago, we we're working on 'Report Card' (documentary special of GMA on the state of Philippine Education). I was sent to Maslog, Eastern Samar to check on the stories of teachers and education system in the area. Some of their primary school have one teacher to four grade levels ratio, classrooms were delapidated. Drop out rate is high. Children at the early age opt to work for their family.
