Ailine is one of the 3 new filters we released for iOS & Android last week. But did you know that it was named after a real person? Our friend, photographer & food blogger Ailine is the mastermind behind it and brought along a set of beautiful shots from her recent trip to Hamburg.

Ailine is one of the 3 new filters we released for iOS & Android last week. But did you know that it was named after a real person? Our friend, photographer & food blogger Ailine is the mastermind behind it and brought along a set of beautiful shots from her recent trip to Hamburg.

About Ailine:Ailine Liefeld is a photographer and food blogger from Berlin. Besides running her own photo, video & food studio (Studio 138), she works for international clients and blogs about food on aicuisine.com.

With her stunning rooftop views and charming self-portraits, Ailine established a following on EyeEm from early on and we’re more than happy to finally have “her” as part of the app now.

How come you were part of creating the new set of EyeEm filters?

I’m using EyeEm for quite a while already but wasn’t too happy with some of the filters. They’re often too intense for my photos. So every time I met Gen (EyeEm’s creative director) I kept complaining about it. One day he just asked me if I wanted to design my own filter. Of course I was in!

How does it feel having a filter named after you?

It’s awesome. Until now I only had a bike in San Francisco named after me, so I’m more than happy to have entered the virtual world, finally : )

What are you working on at the moment?

I do a lot of client work at the moment. I’m on the road almost every day and use the time inbetween to work on my food blog aicuisine.com. Next week however I’m going to the Baltic Sea for 10 days. All I’m going to do is cooking, writing, readingand fueling up on energy.

Your images were all shot in Hamburg. What were you up to?

The trip to Hamburg was a typical work trip. A client asked me to shoot some stills from a video ad they’re currently shooting so I was on set for 2 days. I love these kinds of trips. Just going to beautiful places and capturing what’s there.

Your tips on how to get the most out of the Ailine filter?

Rooms and portraits work very well! But also under exposed photos, taken in low light conditions, get lit up through Ailine and have warmer tones. Food works great as well. To be honest I mostly photograph food, rooms and people, often in the same picture. My own little filter helps me out with all of those.
