“The Favorites of…” is an exercise for all of us to go back in our photo stream and look back at the photos we liked. Everyone is drawn to different photos, so it’s interesting to look into the favorites of other people.

It seems only appropriate to begin this visual journey of spirit and mood with a scene from the iPhone of Nathaniel “Nacho” Cordova. Even as we count down the last days of 2011, Nacho’s tragic departure from our ranks this summer remains vivid in the minds of all he touched.
I didn’t realize the challenge I’d be facing when the good folks at EyeEm invited me to cull 15 photos from my lengthy list of favorites and present them here. The process itself became a delightful review of the year, one that took me on a journey through well over 1,000 photos. The number presented here means leaving out many photos I am fond of, and just as many talented mobile photographers. Without dwelling on that, and with no further ado, I will let the photos tell their stories. I hope you enjoy them.
Addendum:In what might be considered a traditional Japanese approach, I stayed mostly with photos that felt appropriate to the winter season. That influenced the subject matter as well as the subdued colours, where colour appears at all.
…My apologies to those living in the Southern Hemisphere. 😉
