Our team is expanding and we think it’s high time that you guys meet Lars. He’s our go to guy to help with the infrastructure of EyeEm. On his spare time, you can find him playing tennis, hanging out in the parks or exploring Berlin. We’re so glad he joined the team, so without further delay, please say hi to Lars.
Who are you?
What do you love?
What really annoys you?
Your favorite place in the world?
Your best kept secret?
Please tell us something about yourself: who are you, where do you come from, what did you do in the past few years and how did you find your way to EyeEm?
Hey, I’m Lars. I grew up in a small village next to Hamburg. I relocated to Hamburg 5 years ago after finding a job there. I worked at a physical research centre first while doing my apprenticeship and continued working there in the web office. Since I wanted to evolve and see something else, I started working on theinfrastructureteam atJimdofor 2 years and had a really good time there.
I heard of EyeEm from the beginning and got addicted to it very fast. When I met our CTO Ramz last year, we spoke a bit about my story and about his vision for EyeEm’s infrastructure. I wanted to be a part of it, so we finally managed to accomplish that.
What do you do at EyeEm?
Automate, measure, test and scale all the things. We like new, fast and reliable things, don’t we?
What do you do during your spare time?
It really depends on my mood and situation. Right now, I love to discover this big new city, that I just moved into. When it is sunny outside, I love to do sports like tennis or running. So you might find me sweating and lost somewhere in Berlin. On rainy days, I love to cook a nice meal and just listen to one of the vinyl records that I’ve collected over time. In the summertime, I really enjoy meeting friends on music festivals across Germany and I also plan to finish my paragliding license this year.
Where is your favorite spot in Berlin so far?
I still search for an alternative for my favourite music club in Hamburg. Dear Reader, if you know what Berlin’s “Molotow” is, please drop me a message. So far I really enjoy the atmosphere at Mauerpark on Sunday. Somehow an Israeli Restaurant called Sababa near the EyeEm office really caught my attention. At nighttime you might see me at 8mm Bar on Neue Schönhauser Allee, basement in Kreuzberg or Kohlenquelle on Prenzlauer Berg, playing foosball.
What’s your favorite photo you took recently?
I did not have much time recently to take beautiful pictures, so I’ll choose this one for the story around it. It was really great, because March and April was really cold in Hamburg this year, except one day, and it somehow ended up on my birthday. We left work early, went to the beach and drank a beer in the first sunny day of the year.
Thanks Lars! Glad to have you on board ❤
