Today we are proud to have Pirmin akaiPhotography.ch answer our questions! We’re pretty sure most of you have seen his images on EyeEm already; as his photographs of nature, paired with incredibly bursting colors, are quite unmistakable. Here’s what Pirmin has to say about his works:
Hi! Please tell us a little about yourself: who are you, what do you do, and what makes you happy?
Hi there! My name is Pirmin. I’m 35 years old and live in Switzerland, right next to the capital Zürich. I’m an architectural draftsman and plasterer by profession. My family is the centre of my life. One of the most beautiful things that make me happy is watching my two daughters grow up.
It’s quite obvious from your photos that you enjoy being in nature. What brings you there? Work or pleasure?
Most of my photos were taken during walks or hikes with my family. There are a many mountains and lakes nearby where I live. That’s why it’s easier for me to take landscape pictures rather than street art shots. I enjoy the silence and beauty of nature a lot. The colors of the fields, mountains or lakes are very important to me. That’s why it is very seldom that I shoot in black and white – colors are simply more important to me to express a certain atmosphere.
How did you get into mobile photography?
I had my iPhone for about a year now. I never actually took photos before. I came across mobile photography through my Twitter feed and was immediately hooked. To me it’s amazing to see how much you can do with a picture with various apps.
There are two motifs that regularly turn up in your photos: there are the friendly cows smiling at us and this beautiful swing on a hill. What can you tell us about these evergreens?
There are several motifs that I photography regularly, for example a red bench, ferris wheels or carousels. And cows are just a great thing to shoot! They don’t complain about copyright 🙂 . The swing is special. It’s situated on a hill that I can see directly from my window. I often go up there with my kids. On the very top of the hill there’s a restaurant with a small carousel and a swing. And there’s a fantastic view on the lake Zürich and the Alps. It’s just a fantastic place.
What are the things, photographers and artists that inspire you?
I love the images of http://www.streetphoto.biz/.in mainly because it’s so hard for me to take street art photos. The images of Gioja are also very important to me. These inspire me to work on and improve my own style. I especially like the works of Atchara Cho on EyeEm.
