Capturing British Culture as Brexit Continues to Shape Global Conversations
By Ellen Clipson and Loren Lazic - 3 min read
It’s during these times of controversy that a nation’s identity is truly put to the test. With ‘Brexit Britain’ set to continue as a topic of global discussions we open up the question to you with our new Mission – what does British Culture look like?
Photography is our tool to tell the stories of individuals, neighbourhoods and landscapes that give a place its identity. Our new Mission – British Culture – is our opportunity to use our creativity to tell stories of the Britain we see, whether it be during travel adventures or a lifetime of memories.
Using Photography to Visualize Britain Before Brexit
From high tea and scones, to a fry up and builder’s brew, we want to see past the murky fog of Brexit and celebrate the common customs that bring communities together, showcasing all that makes British culture so diverse.
The climate of controversy is the ideal creative space for photographers, artists and filmmakers to highlight the joys of everyday and what identity as a concept can look like.
“What are the stereotypes you wish to break?”
It’s important to step back and re-assess what makes us who we really are, and the qualities we want to stand by. From style, sports, food, events, landmarks and those everyday quirks, we want to know what makes British culture so unique.
Whether it be the Highlands of Scotland or the beaches of Brighton, we’re asking you to show us what British Culture means to you. What is British culture today?
“capture an honest and fun representation of British culture through photography”
As a traveler, what stands out on your visits? What are the traditions you have seen bring people together? What are the stereotypes you wish to break? How do you photograph nostalgic memories or emerging millennial concepts?
Wherever you may be right now, no matter if you’ve been to Britain or not, we want to know how you capture an honest and fun representation of British culture through photography.
