We put around 1000 of your photos on the walls of C/O Berlin, one of Europe’s finest photography museums, as it celebrated its final night at the legendary Postfuhramt building.
Thank you for one of the most exciting weekends we’ve had. Out of all contributions to our Bye Bye mission we’ve put around 1000 of YOUR photos on the walls of C/O Berlin, one of Europe’s finest photography museums, as it celebrated its final night at the legendary Postfuhramt building.
Bye Bye photos from all over the world
C/O Berlin, the city’s favorite photography institution, had to move out of the location they inhibited for the past 13 years. Mitte being the district they were leaving, they hung “Bye Bye Mitte” posters all over the city and announced a party to celebrate the final, final night at Postfuhramt.
But what would these honorable walls be without photos? That’s right. So we kicked off a photo mission upon the topic Bye Bye, asked the worldwide EyeEm community to contribute their photos and prepared for the exhibition to be shown to the world on March 9 2013.
Within 3 weeks we received 2654 photos by 1260 contributors and – it has to be said – were once again blown away by the beauty of these photographs. We first published a selection of our favorite shots and then started to make the selection for the exhibition together with the guys from C/O Berlin. Finally, we printed out about 1000 shots that were hung on the 20 m long wall at C/O Berlin.
Setting up the exhibition
On March 9, the final day came and went like this:
12:30:Gen, Stefanie, Nils and Stephanie start hanging up the photos
14.10: Victor comes a little later to help. His glasses broke, so he had to fix them first.
15.45: Stephanie starts writing the 600+ contributors up on the wall.
17.30: We’re done! All photos are up on the wall.
20.00: The party starts, a massive queue is outside the building and people start checking out the photos.
01.00: In the spirit of “Bye bye” people were allowed to take the pictures home and not a single one of the 1000 photos remained on the wall!
Thank you again to everyone who contributed their photos to this extraordinary project! We couldn’t have been happier with the result and hope that everyone who was there enjoyed as much as we did it.
Thank you C/O Berlin for making it happen with us!
