With your photos at the very core and a completely new interface based on motion and simplicity, EyeEm for iOS 7 is here to celebrate photography in all its beauty.
We reimagined the way photo sharing looks — and feels.
With the release of Apple’s new operating system we took the opportunity to focus on the one thing we’re most passionate about: photography. Our goal was to create an interface that puts your photos in the foreground and provides a unique and inspiring experience every time you open up EyeEm.
The visual layers, introduced by Apple with iOS 7, make the background of each screen automatically adapt to the colors of the photos being displayed. Think of a bright and shiny screen for the “Sunrise” album and a dark, gloomy display for the “black and white” album – every screen is unique and dynamically adapts to the albums & locations your photos are connected with.

Making your photos come alive
We radically changed the way your photos are being displayed. Photos of all sizes and formats align seamlessly next to each other as you scroll down, and single photos are shown at maximum screen size. We carefully placed the interaction buttons below the photo to reduce all distractions and give your photos the space they deserve.
You’ll also notice that the app feels much more dynamic and alive as soon as you start interacting with it. Every tap results in an animation – whether you’re zooming into an album, checking out someone’s profile or browsing through your own photos. The interface always adapts to the photos you’re viewing and makes sure you always know where you are.
Here’s Lorenz, co-founder and Head of Product, talking about the new update:
A summary of new features:
• complete new interface adapted to iOS 7 principles
• dynamic screen design adapted to a photo album’s colors and context
• 3-step zoom transitions from album overview to single photo view
• photos displayed at maximum size
• double tap to like a photo
• bigger photo grid, thumbnail previews on home screen
• albums bubbles are now translucent, fewer colors to distract from the photos
• circle-shaped profile pictures & new dynamic profile pages
• available in 21 languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Portuguese
Looking forward to your feedback
For us as a company, this update is a game changer. Everyone on the team – from product managers and designers to community managers, developers and backend engineers – worked intensely to make this happen. We’re super excited to finally ship EyeEm for iOS 7 and are looking forward to your ideas and feedback.
