Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia

Puerto de la Cruz from another point of view. We see the tower of the church Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia. In front and behind, balconies and roofs of houses from downtown Puerto de la Cruz. I took this picture from my roof terrace. In front there I have an excellent overview of the city. This is a picture from Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife. It shows the main church Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia. In 1603, the Regidor Antonio Franchi y Lutzardo divided the then largely undeveloped area of downtown Puerto de la Orotava, now the Puerto de la Cruz, in individual plots. He also provided a place for a church. In 1620, a chapel was built and the land intended for the church was enlarged. In 1648 construction began on the church. In 1697 the first building was completed. The right and left edges of the facade were made of stone.
