Hawkcraig Pier

Hawkcraig Pier in Aberdour. The pier looks out towards Inchcolm Abbey, on the island of Inchcolm, a few hundred yards offshore. The island is known as "the Iona of the east". Last one from Hawkcraig Pier in Aberdour. It's a bit of a cliché shot, I know, but there's good reason for that. Hawkcraig Pier, in Aberdour, Fife, Scotland, was built in the 1850's to service the ferry that ran across the Forth to Leith, which carried Victorian pleasure seekers from Edinburgh to the marvellous beaches at Aberdour. The ferry went out of business following the opening of the Forth Bridge in 1890, and the pier quickly fell into disrepair. Another shot from Aberdour's Hawkcraig Point. Couldn't get the tripod to go low enough on the rocks to get the shot I wanted here, but it looks OK, I reckon.
