Heavens Peak

Stars rose over Heavens | The night came at the Loop. I was looking for an open area where I could see the gorgeous Milky Way clearly, and the Loop had to do it. Our galaxy rose between Mt. Cannon (on the left) and Heavens Peak, seemingly appropriate with the stars in the sky. I didn’t know if the light pollution was coming from the towns adjacent to the Glacier Park International Airport in the south of the park, but it got illuminated brighter by the clouds hanging just over the mountains. It was definitely a chilly night and I had to bundle up. But it was where I wanted to be. When Milky Way and Heavens align... | As the night got later, the Milky Way rose higher and more vertically. And then something that I would only imagine to see in the movies. Our galaxy and Heavens Peak aligned. I don’t know how often this was seen throughout the year, particularly from the Loop or around this area, but I felt quite lucky to catch this sight then. It wasn’t like I tried to frame the Milky Way with something in the foreground, such as a house or a tree. That’s easy. You just move to left or right to frame them. After a few minutes, they were off. It was time to wrap up.
