Kitanomaru Park is a Publicpark located north of the Imperial Palace. It was the location of the northenmost section of Edo Castle and was called Kitanomaru.It was used as a Medicinal Garden as well as a Secure Residential Compound for members of the Tokugawa extended family. Before 1969 (when the park was open) the area used to be called Daikancho ( Town Of The Local Governors ) as many governors used to live here after the construction of edo castle.
