according to legends this is Tartarus...? A number of souls were imprisoned there including Sisyphus...a character revisited by Camus...on the right track Mr L or on the road to Damocles...

K, this is indeed the dungeon of torment, Tartarus. I had in mind though, somebody who used it as a prison but subsequently became imprisoned within it....
