From Smokey Row to the City, South Parsons Avenue, Columbus, Ohio

Mornings on the south side of Columbus during warm months of the year are often hazy, choked with pollen, dust and humidity. Elder residents tell of a day when the south end buzzed with the sights, smells and sounds of industry. The Buckeye Steel mill especially reeked of toxic, thick smoke at all times of the day, thus helping to give the community it's nickname "Smokey Row." Though the city's skyline has grown exponentially since the area's hey day, I wonder if a clear view of the urban landscape was ever possible as it was the morning I took this photo?
